The Islands of the Bahamas are certainly filled with culture and entertainment. Our Luxury jet charter passengers have talked in length about the many events and activities they experienced last year, and we decided to compile a list of this year’s events so you don’t miss out on some of the best the Bahamas and Paradise Islands have to offer.
March 2015

On vacation with the family and looking for a way to keep active while enjoying your vacation? The weekend of the 20th, the Bahamas have a weekend full of fitness activities to keep your family moving. It’s three days of exercise – a one mile swim, a 5-10k (your choice) walk or run, paddle board racing, and even exercises for the kids. The entire family can burn some of that extra energy from taking it easy on vacation.

Looking to catch your dinner, or just for sport? This year, the Bahamas is looking to trump its own Fishing Tournament, now going on four years. Everyone has a chance to catch some fish, and the best fishermen will win. If you’re in the area, join the tournament and see if you can get the biggest catch this year.

In Eleuthera this year, an annual jazz festival takes place in the Bahamas. The concert is also held as a charity event to raise funds for the Haynes Library on Eleuthera. In the digital age, many libraries have become extinct, but in the Bahamas, it still holds a place for the community to get together, and thus, they are requesting help to keep it from closing down.

Island natives and international visitors are attracted to this concert festival every year. Starting off with an opening ceremony and welcome party, there are pool parties, concerts, fashion shows, contests, and more throughout the festival. With each passing day, the celebration grows larger, so if you miss a day, be sure to catch the next, or you might miss 12 hours of non-stop entertainment for all ages.

A new tournament is taking place this year. Bahamas is introducing the White Marlin Smackdown! Held at the Hawk’s Nest Resort and Marina, a tournament for catching White Marlins will be going on this April. Come on out, lay some smack down, and see if you get the biggest catch of the day.

One of the oldest regattas in the Bahamas returns this year for another celebration of sailing. For five days, Bahamian natives sail around the clear waters of Exuma, and a race between sailors and boat builders compete to be the best. For more than 50 years, this race has been going on, since the 1950s, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Don’t miss a chance to experience all the Bahamas culture has to offer during the Junkanoo Carnival. Join the celebration with music, arts and crafts, Bahamian cuisine and more. Guests come from all around the world to join in the celebration of Bahamian tradition, and spectate the many street and cultural shows put on throughput the weekend on the island of Nassau.

One of the many highlighted tournaments in the Bahamas, the annual Billfish Blast, is not one to miss. All fishermen are welcomed to enjoy a great experience for everyone involved. The tournament will also feature group dinners following each day of the tournament, and a Dinner Banquet on?the final day.

Come and enjoy a special performance by Chelsea Handler, former star of the E! Network. Her comedy knows no bounds, and will be coming to Nassau, Bahamas this May. Memorial Weekend will be well spent with her as?entertainment.
(Bahama Billfish Championship (BBC))
Beginning in Guana Cay at Orchid Bay Marinas, the 2015 BBC will be continuing this year, a championship that has been going on since the early 1970s. This is a world-class fishing tournament series, consisting of four tournaments that begin in late April. The 3rd leg will be hosted at Treasure Cay in late May.
June 2015

The second largest regatta in the Bahamas is happening for the 48th year in a row this June, 2015. Three races feature skippers from all around the islands competing for prizes and trophies. During the tournament, a festival of sorts will be taking place. There will be performances by local bands, games, and plenty of food.

The purpose of this festival is to honor all of the Pineapple farmers in the Bahamas, as well as to create awareness of the important agricultural heritage. However, it’s also a chance for natives and visitors to come together and participate in pineapple-themed activities, contents, and even sports. There is also live entertainment non-stop and plenty of beverages and treats to be had.

Visitors and natives alike tend to visit or return to Deep Creek for this festival each year. In an effort to promote the well being of society, economy, and the soul, the festival holds talent shows, arts and craft activities, and has a lot of native food. Get a taste for some Bahamian home cooking if you’re in the area.

Award winning artists Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga will be performing at Atlantis, Paradise Island. This show is a part of the resort’s LIVE concert series going on throughout the year. Hear some world-class entertainment if you’re in the area this Summer.

This year in June, 2015, the Treasure Cay Beach, Marina, and Gold Resort is hosting the 32nd annual fishing tournament. Many fishermen aim to catch Blue Marlins, with their eye on the prize of the biggest catch. A few years ago, the biggest catch was a 1119 pound Blue Marlin, that’s incredible.
July 2015

From all around the world, sailboats and crewmen gear up for this regatta event in the Bahamas. Celebrating 40 years, this summer, many are already planning on the best sailboat race for years to come. During the race, there will be a beach party and a BBQ at the Coco Beach Bar in Treasure Cay.

Bahamas celebrates its independence in mid-July, and the common traditions are to be found. A beach party starts things off on every island, with a fireworks display ending the night. Large festivals can even be found on some of the bigger islands, such as Nassau and Paradise Island, however, this is a holiday celebrated wherever you go in the Bahamas.
Not an actual event, but we thought it should be mentioned here as something you may want to check out while in the Bahamas. The Blue Hole is an underwater cave that actually starts from the shallow ocean floor, and then goes down 1700 feet. The cave travels all the way from Stocking Island to the open ocean a mile away. If you’re a professional diver, it might be an interesting adventure. If you’re with family, you may want to take an excursion to this location, as strong tides can be dangerous.

The Bahamas are?known for their?many regattas, and this race is just as good as the rest. The natives and regatta lovers unite to celebrate the race with live entertainment, island native activities, games, and of course, food and drinks. If you’re in the area, go on and join the fun at the Regatta Site in New Bight.

Class A, B, and C boats are invited to compete during this major sailing event within the Bahamas. Whether you’re a fan of sailboats or just want to have some fun, the beach party will be sure to keep you entertained. Come watch the race, and enjoy live band performances, music, and native food and drinks.

Although debatable, the day Columbus discovered the Bahamas is celebrated on October 12th. It is a very intensely celebrated holiday with a major festival each year. On this day, many buildings and establishments shut down in its commemoration.

Do you like to watch college sports and look out for the next names that may hit the big leagues? There’s a collegiate basketball tournament going on in Nassau this Fall. Watch as eight of the top teams battle it out for basketball victory during this sports event.
